The Lytton First Nation government is composed of one Chief and twelve Councillors. Community members residing on and off reserve elect political leaders every 2 years. As a cultural practice, the elected government relies on advice provided by community Elders in most significant issues.

The Lytton First Nation government conducts its businesses in accordance with a Model of Governance that clearly separates the responsibilities of elected government representatives and those of the Band Administration.

The Lytton First Nation is currently affiliated to the Nlaka’pamux Nation Tribal Council. The Tribal association does not provide direct services as the Lytton First Nation administers all the services to the membership.
